Qualifications to apply

Applicant must be a non-Japanese citizen who meets one of the following requirements 1-5, in addition to requirement 6:
1. Has successfully completed or expects to complete sixteen years of education or the equivalent in
 educational institutions outside of Japan by March 2023.
 *Applicants applying for October 2022 enrollment must complete sixteen years of education or the equivalent
  by September 2022. This shall be applied to all the following requirements.
2. Has successfully completed or expects to complete sixteen years of education or the equivalent in Japan
 through a correspondence course from an educational institution outside of Japan by March 2023.
3. Has completed or expects to complete sixteen years of education or the equivalent by March 2023 at a
 non-Japanese educational institution in Japan which is recognized by his or her country, and designated by
 the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, as having a university level
 program.
4. Applicants who hold Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent degree, including applicants who will receive the
 degree by the end of March 2023, by completing more than three-year long program (including distance
 learning for applicants living in Japan) offered by foreign universities, other foreign schools which have been
 evaluated by their official authorities at their home countries, or foreign schools which the Ministry of
 Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology – JAPAN (MEXT) designates.
5. Has academic ability which has been assessed as equivalent to or surpassing the level of a bachelor’s
 degree holder by individual screening of admission qualifications, and is over 22 years
 old or will be 22 years old by March 2023.
6. Has obtained a Student (ryugaku) Visa as stipulated by the Emigration and Immigration Management and
 Refugee Recognition Law of Japan, and can obtain a student visa in Japan upon admission to the Japanese
 Graduate School.
 *Note 1. Non-Japanese citizens who graduated or expect to graduate from a Japanese college or university
     by March 2023 are not eligible for this category.

 *Note 2. Applicant under the qualification 4 is required to submit a
     certificate of graduation (or a certificate of
     expected graduation) and a certificate of degree (or a certificate of expected degree) issued by
     universities which has been evaluated by official authorities designated by Kyushu Institute of
     Technology.

Documents to be submitted

Applicants should submit all of the following documents to the Administrative Office of the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, and ensure that they arrive before the deadline.

Print this out after you have finished the online registration.
②Photo card Prepare your photograph that meets the conditions below, write your name on its back and paste it to the photo card. The photograph must be:
・the applicant’s upper body, frontal view without a hat, and taken  within three months;
・4.5 (height) cm x 3.5 (width) cm; and
・clear image.
③Address label If you are sending the necessary documents after you have finished the online registration, print out an address label from the online registration website and paste it on an envelope (240 mm x 332 mm, called K2 size in Japan). Whenever sending the documents from overseas, use the Express Mail Service with tracking number, such as EMS (Express mail). Be sure to write down “APPLICATION DOCUMENTS” in red on the front side of the envelope. Note: When you carry on the required documents to the Graduate School Section or send from overseas, you do not need to submit the Address label.
Additional neccessary documents ④Statement of purpose Please describe the statement of purpose related to your academic work and your research plan after enrollment.
Note:There is a limited number of student places for the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering.
To avoid clerical error, please make sure to inform your future supervisor of your academic background and research theme via e-mail before the application.
Please note that if you apply without enough communication you may be unfavorably treated in the admission process and your lab assignment may be jeopardized as a result.
⑤Graduation Certificate

The originals issued by the educational institution attended. *Exception: Persons applying using qualifications 4 must prove
 that the term of study is 3 years or more with a graduation
 certificate (or predicted) created by the university etc.
*Exception: Individuals who qualify for admission qualifications 5
 are exempted from submission.
◆In case you are not able to submit the originals:
 Please submit the certified true copies authorized by the official
 organization such as emabassy or notary public office in your
 home country.
◆In case the certificates are written in other than Japanese or
 English:Please attach Japanese or English translation issued
 by your graduating school.
※If the graduating school is not able to provide the Japanese or
 English translation, you can submit the notarized translation
 issued by the embassy or notary public office. However the
 following certificate is not acceptable even if it is authorized:
・Translated by the candidates themselves or Japanese
 language school.
・Certified not the contents of the translation but the oath of the
 candidates.
・Certification of signatures regarding to the translations.
⑥Degree certificate Persons applying using qualifications 4 must provide an original degree certificate (or predicted) created by the university etc.
⑦Transcripts The originals issued by the educational institution attended.
*Exception: Individuals who qualify for admission qualifications 5
 are exempted from submission.Please act the same manner as

Only non-Japanese applicants who reside in Japan need to submit this.

Selection Procedures

Successful applicants are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of academic ability based on a number of factors including a written examination, interview, and transcripts issued the educational institution attended.

1. Written Examination
 Applicants must take a written examination related to their respective desired department or field of
 specialization.
2. Interview Examination
 Applicants must take an interview examination related to their academic ability in their field of specialization,
 English proficiency, content of transcripts, field of specialization of their desired research advisor, and so on.

*Note 1. In place of a written examination, the contents of the written examination may be given orally during
 the interview examination.
*Note 2. The interview examination may be given over the Internet.

Announcement of Successful Applicants

First Session: July 22 (Fri), 2022 [10:00 AM]
Second Session: February 21(Tue), 2023 [10:00 AM]

Successful applicants will be notified of the screening results by mail. In addition, a list of successful applicants by examination card number will be displayed on the university website: (https://www.kyutech.ac.jp) Results cannot be given by phone, fax, or email.

*If the entrance exam cannot be administered as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances during a natural
 disaster, the day of the announcement of successful applicants may be changed.
 Please confirm “Emergency contact in the event of unforeseen circumstances”.

Admission Fees

1.Entrance Fee: JPY 282,000
2.Tuition Fee: JPY 267,900 (First term: 6 months)
 In the event that the tuition fee is revised while the student is enrolled at this university, the new tuition fee will
 be applied from the time of revision.
3.Others: Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research
 *Aforementioned entrance and tuition fees apply to the 2022 academic year, the fees for 2023 have not yet
  been determined. Applicants will be informed of the finalized amount in their admission procedure
  documents.

Security Export Control

We have established the Security Export Control Regulations in Kyushu Institute of Technology based on the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act of Japan, and rigorously screen potential international students on the basis of these regulations.
International applicants who fall under any of the conditions set out in said regulations may be unable to enter their desired course or program.

Emergency contact in the event of unforeseen circumstances

If the entrance exam cannot be administered as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances during a natural disaster, cancellations or changes in date and/or venue will be displayed on the university website (https://www.kyutech.ac.jp).The university will not be responsible for the applicant’ss expense fee due to its.
In the event of an unforeseen circumstance in respect to public transportation on the day of the examination, please immediately contact the Administrative Office of the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering.
