Qualifications to apply

1. Has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional degree, or their equivalent from an
 educational institution outside of Japan by March 2023.
 *A professional degree is stipulated in Clause 5-2 of Degree Regulations (Ordinance No. 9 of the Ministry of
  Education of Japan issued in 1953), in accordance with the 1st clause of Article 104 of the School Education
  Act of Japan. This shall be applied to all the following requirements.
 *Applicants applying for October 2022 enrollment must complete a master's degree, professional degree or
  their equivalent by September 2022. This shall be applied to all the following requirements.
2. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s or professional degree program or the
 equivalent in Japan through a correspondence course from an educational institution outside of Japan, and
 has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional degree or their equivalent by March 2023.
3. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s or professional degree program or the
 equivalent and has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional degree, or their equivalent
 by March 2023 at a non-Japanese educational institution in Japan which is recognized by his or her country,
 and designated by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, as having
 a graduate level program.
4. Has successfully completed a course at United Nations University and received a degree equivalent to a
 master’s degree, or expects to complete a program and receive such a degree by the end of March 2023.
5. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after receiving a
 bachelor's degree from a Japanese university, and is recognized by this Institute as having accredited
 academic ability equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree or professional degree holder based on
 their research accomplishments.
6. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after completing sixteen
 years of education or the equivalent at an educational institution outside of Japan*, and is recognized by our
 Institute as having accredited academic ability equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree or
 professional degree holder based on their research accomplishments.
 *This includes completing a program in Japan through a correspondence course from an educational
  institution outside of Japan.
7. Has academic ability which has been assessed as equivalent to
 or surpassing the level of a master's degree or professional degree holder by individual screening of
 admission qualifications, and is over 24 years old or will be 24 years old by March 2023.
8. Has obtained a Student (ryugaku) Visa as stipulated by the Emigration and Immigration Management and
 Refugee Recognition Law of Japan, or can obtain a student visa in Japan upon the admission to the
 Japanese Graduate School.
 *Note 1. Non-Japanese citizens who have received or expect to receive a master's degree or professional
  degree from a Japanese educational institution by March 2023 are not eligible for this category.
 *Note 2. Individuals who wish to apply under the aforementioned qualification requirements 5 to 7 should
  read “Examination Application for Applicant Eligibility” and contact this graduate school in advance.

   The online registration period start one week before application period. It is available for pre-online
   registration.

Documents to be submitted

Applicants should submit all of the following documents to the Administrative Office of the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, and ensure that they arrive before the deadline.

Print this out after you have finished the online registration.
②Photo card Prepare your photograph that meets the conditions below, write your name on its back and paste it to the photo card.
The photograph must be:
・the applicant’s upper body, frontal view without a hat, and taken  within three months;
・4.5 (height) cm x 3.5 (width) cm; and
・clear image.
③Address label If you are sending the necessary documents after you have finished the online registration, print out an address label from the online registration website and paste it on an envelope (240 mm x 332 mm, called K2 size in Japan). Whenever sending the documents from overseas, use the Express Mail Service with tracking number, such as EMS (Express mail). Be sure to write down “APPLICATION DOCUMENTS” in red on the front side of the envelope.
Note: When you carry on the required documents to the Graduate School Section or send from overseas, you do not need to submit the Address label.

Issued by the educational institution attended and listed that Master degree conferred (expected) on.
 *Exception: individuals who qualify for admission qualifications 5
 to 7 are exempted from submission.
◆In case you are not able to submit the originals:Please submit
 the certified true copies authorized by the official organization
 such as emabassy or notary public office in your home country.
◆In case the certificates are written in other than Japanese or
 English:Please attach Japanese or English translation issued
 by your graduating school.
※If the graduating school is not able to provide the Japanese
 or English translation, you can submit the notarized
 translation issued by the embassy or notary public office.
 However the following certificate is not acceptable even if it is
 authorized:
・Translated by the candidates themselves or Japanese
 language school.
・Certified not the contents of the translation but the oath of the
 candidates.
・Certification of signatures regarding to the translations.
⑤Transcripts The originals issued by the educational institution attended.
*Exception: individuals who qualify for admission qualifications 5
 to 7 are exempted from submission. Please act the same
 manner as ※ in the colum ④.
⑥Research Plan Submit a research plan for the doctoral course.

⑦Master's thesis and abstract Individuals who have received a master's degree are required to submit their master's thesis as well as an abstract.
*Exception: individuals who have not yet received a master’s
 degree are exempted from submission.
*Individuals who expect to receive the master’s degree or who
 have not written master’s thesis are required to submit the
 subject matter report, research achievement report or the
 progress report on their study etc. of an equivalent to the thesis.  The format is up to applicants.
*Exception: individuals who qualify for admission qualifications 5
 to 7 are exempted from submission.

Selection Procedures

[First Session]
Successful applicants are selected through a comprehensive evaluation based on an interview examination and submitted documents. However, individuals applying for April 2023 enrollment who are expected to receive a master's degree by March 2023 are required to partake in a second screening for the successful applicants of first screening as well.
*In some cases, even those who are expected to receive a master's degree are not required to partake in the
 second screening.

First Screening
 Interview Examination
 Applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on the submitted master's thesis or equivalent research
 paper, research plan after being admitted into the doctoral course, academic ability in their field, and
 transcripts. However, individuals applying for April 2023 enrollment who have not yet received their master’s
 degree will not be asked an interview regarding their master's thesis or equivalent research paper.

Second Screening
 Interview Examination
 Applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on their master's thesis or equivalent research paper.

 Successful applicants are selected through a comprehensive evaluation based on an interview examination
 and the submitted documents.
Interview Examination
 Applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on their submitted master's thesis or equivalent research
 paper, research plan after being admitted into the doctoral course, academic ability in their field, and
 transcripts.

1. The second screening is not required of applicants applying for October 2022 enrollment.

3. The interview examination may be given over the Internet.

Successful applicants will be notified by mail. In addition, a list of successful applicants by examination card number will be displayed on the university website(https://www.kyutech.ac.jp). Results cannot be given by phone, fax, or email.

*If the entrance exam cannot be administered as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances during a disaster,
 the day of the announcement of successful applicants may be changed.
 Please confirm “Emergency contact in the event of unforeseen circumstances”.

Admission Fees

1. Entrance Fee: JPY 282,000
2. Tuition Fee: JPY 267,900 (First term: 6 months)In the event that the tuition fee is revised while the student is
 enrolled at this university, the new tuition fee will be applied from the time of revision.
3. Others: Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research
 *Aforementioned entrance and tuition fees apply to the 2022 academic year, the fees for 2023 have not yet
  been determined. Applicants will be informed of the finalized amount in their admission procedure
  documents.

Security Export Control

We have established the Security Export Control Regulations in Kyushu Institute of Technology based on the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act of Japan, and rigorously screen potential international students on the basis of these regulations.
International applicants who fall under any of the conditions set out in said regulations may be unable to enter their desired course or program.

Emergency contact in the event of unforeseen circumstances

If the entrance exam cannot be administered as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances during a disaster, cancellations or changes in date and/or venue will be displayed on the university website (http://www.kyutech.ac.jp/).The university will not be responsible for the examinees’s expense fee due to its.
In the event of an unforeseen circumstance in respect to public transportation on the day of the examination, please immediately contact the Administrative Office of the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering.
