Qualifications to apply

1. Has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional degree, or their
equivalent from an educational institution outside of Japan by March 2025. *A professional
degree is stipulated in Clause 5-2 of Degree Regulations (Ordinance No. 9 of the Ministry of
Education of Japan issued in 1953), in accordance with the 1st clause of Article 104 of the
School Education Act of Japan. This shall be applied to all the following requirements.
*Applicants applying for October 2024 enrollment must complete a master's degree,
professional degree or their equivalent by September 2024. This shall be applied to all the
following requirements.
2. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s, professional degree program
or the equivalent in Japan through a correspondence course from an educational institution
outside of Japan, and has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional
degree or their equivalent by March 2025.
3. Has successfully completed or expects to complete a master’s, professional degree program
or the equivalent and has received or expects to receive a master's degree, professional
degree, or their equivalent by March 2025 at a non-Japanese educational institution in
Japan which is recognized by his or her country, and designated by the Japanese Minister
of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, as having a graduate level program.
4. Has successfully completed a course at United Nations University and received a degree
equivalent to a master’s degree or expects to complete a program and receive such a degree
by the end of March 2025.
5. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after
receiving a bachelor's degree from a Japanese university, and is recognized by this Institute
as having accredited academic ability equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree
or professional degree holder based on their research accomplishments.
6. Has engaged in at least two years of research at a university or a research institute after
completing sixteen years of education or the equivalent at an educational institution
outside of Japan*, and is recognized by our Institute as having accredited academic ability
equal to or surpassing the level of a master's degree or professional degree holder based on
their research accomplishments. *This includes completing a program in Japan through a
correspondence course from an educational institution outside of Japan.
7. Has academic ability which has been assessed as equivalent to or surpassing the level of a
master's degree or professional degree holder by individual screening of admission qualifications, and is over 24 years old or will be 24 years old by March 2025.
8. Has obtained a Student Visa (study abroad) as stipulated by the Emigration and
Immigration Management and Refugee Recognition Law of Japan, or can obtain a student
visa in Japan upon the admission to the Japanese Graduate School.

*Note 1. Non-Japanese citizens who have received or expect to receive a master's degree or
professional degree from a Japanese educational institution by March 2025 are not
eligible for this category.

Documents to be submitted

Applicants must submit all of the following documents, after you have finished the online registration, to the Graduate School Section, the Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, within the Application Period.

	②Photo Card	Prepare your photograph that meets the conditions below, write your name on its back and paste it to the photo card. The photograph must be: ・the applicant’s upper body, frontal view without a hat, and taken within three months; ・45 (height) mm x 35 (width) mm; ・clear image.
	③Address Label	If you are sending the necessary documents by domestic mail, print out an Address Label from the online registration website and paste it on an envelope (240mm x 332 mm, called K2 size in Japan). Note: When you carry on the required documents to the Graduate School Section or send from overseas, you do not need to print out or submit the Address Label.
Additional neccessary documents	④Certificate of Master's Degree (or Certificate of Expected Master's Degree)	Submit the original documents issued by the institution such as graduating schools and listed that Master degree conferred (expected) on. ◆In case you are not able to submit the original documents: Submit the certified true copies authorized by the official organization such as embassy or notary public office in your home country. ◆In case the certificates are written in other than Japanese or English: Attach Japanese or English translation of the documents issued by your graduating school. ※If the graduating school is not able to provide the Japanese or English translation, you can submit the notarized translation issued by the embassy or notary public office. However the following certificate is not acceptable even if it is authorized: ・Translated by the applicants themselves or Japanese language schools. ・Certified not the contents of the translation but the oath of the applicants. ・Certification of signatures regarding to the translations.
	⑤Transcripts	Submit the original documents issued by the institution such as graduating schools. Please act the same manner as ※ in the colum ④.
	⑥Research Plan	Submit a research plan for the doctoral course. Download the form from here.
	⑦Master's Thesis and Abstract	Individuals who have received a master's degree are required to submit their Master's Thesis as well as an Abstract. Applicants who have not yet received a master’s degree are exempted from submission. Applicants who expect to receive the master’s degree or who have not written master’s thesis are required to submit the subject matter report, research achievement report or the progress report on their study etc. of an equivalent to the thesis. The format is up to applicants. *Exception: Applicants who apply according to qualification requirements 5 to 7 are exempted from submission. *Download the form from here
	⑧A copy of Passport, Residence Card, Special Permanent Resident Certificate or Certificate of Residence	Only non-Japanese applicants who reside in Japan need to submit this.  *Exception: Non-Japanese applicants who reside outside of   Japan need to submit a copy of the passport.

Selection Procedures

[First Session]
Selection of admission students are made through a comprehensive evaluation based on an
interview examination and submitted documents.

  Applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on the submitted Master's Thesis or equivalent research
  paper, research plan after being admitted into the Doctoral Course, academic ability in their field, and
  Transcripts.

[Second Session]
Selection of admission students are made through a comprehensive evaluation based on an interview examination and the submitted documents.
Regarding interview examination, applicants will be evaluated by an interview based on their submitted Master's Thesis or equivalent research paper, research plan after being admitted into the Doctoral course, academic ability in their field and transcripts.

Admission Fees

1. Entrance Fee: JPY 282,000
2. Tuition Fee: JPY 267,900 (First term: 6 months)In the event that the tuition fee is revised while the student is
 enrolled at this university, the new tuition fee will be applied from the time of revision.
3. Others: Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research
 *Aforementioned entrance and tuition fees apply to the 2024 academic year, the fees for 2025 have not yet
  been determined. Applicants will be informed of the finalized amount in their admission procedure
  documents.

Security Export Control

We have established the Security Export Control Regulations in Kyushu Institute of Technology based on the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act of Japan, and rigorously screen potential international students on the basis of these regulations.
International applicants who fall under any of the conditions set out in said regulations may be unable to enter their desired course or program.

Emergency contact in the event of unforeseen circumstances

If the entrance exam cannot be administered as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances during a disaster, cancellations or changes in date and/or venue will be displayed on the university website (http://www.kyutech.ac.jp/).The university will not be responsible for the examinees’s expense fee due to its.
