Welcome Exchange Event with the University of Notre Dame Held

Update:2026.06.09

On June 1, 2026, a Welcome Exchange Event for the University of Notre Dame (USA) was held at the Horyu Hall on the Tobata Campus, co-hosted by the Language Lounge (LL) and GYMLABO. Approximately 30 participants attended the event.

Every June, our university conducts an international Project-Based Learning (PBL) program with students from the University of Notre Dame. This year, nine undergraduate students and their faculty advisor, Professor Bill Goodwin, visited our university. Fourteen students from our university, representing all three campuses, are also participating. As the Notre Dame group will be staying at the Tobata Campus for about one month in June, this event was organized to provide an opportunity for interaction on this campus as well.

At the beginning of the event, participants were divided into groups, where they introduced themselves and came up with group names. Each group selected creative names such as “Kawaii,” “Wings of Freedom,” and “Mushiba,” showcasing their originality.

Next, a paper tower game was held as a team competition. Using soft newspaper, each team worked together to build the tallest possible tower, combining their ideas and teamwork. There were exciting moments when towers suddenly collapsed, drawing loud reactions and adding to the lively atmosphere.
After the game, participants changed seats and enjoyed a free conversation session with new members. Lively discussions continued on topics such as Japanese food and anime.

The University of Notre Dame students are scheduled to stay until June 27. During their stay, frequent use of Horyu Hall and the Language Lounge is expected. If you happen to see them on campus, please feel free to say hello and engage with them.
