Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) conducted a reciprocal student exchange program with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, one of its key partner institutions. The initiative marked the fourth dispatch of Kyutech students to UiTM and the third time Kyutech has hosted UiTM students so far. The program was coordinated by Professor Hirofumi Saito of the Institute of Liberal Arts.
From February 23 to 28, 2026, twelve Kyutech undergraduate students visited UiTM for a six-day program. Together with UiTM students, they toured engineering laboratories and participated in cultural activities such as traditional Malaysian instruments and dance. The visit coincided with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, giving participants the opportunity to experience local cultural practices, including assisting with food distribution at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque (what is called Blue Mosque) and joining the evening iftar meal.
The inbound program was held at Kyutech’s Tobata Campus from March 9 to 14, welcoming twelve UiTM students and one faculty advisor. Activities included a visit to the Kitakyushu Eco-Town Center to learn about the City’s sustainability initiatives and fieldwork at Shiranoe Botanical Garden and in the Mojiko area. During the free time after each day’s program, Kyutech students guided UiTM students around various places in Kitakyushu City.
The program concluded with a collaborative learning session between UiTM students and the Kyutech twelve students who had participated in the dispatch program. Through these exchanges, participants deepened their multicultural decision-making and further developed their communication skills.
