Kyutech welcomed the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Japan

On March 4, 2026, H.E. Mr. Retšelisitsoe THEKO, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Japan paid a courtesy visit to the Tobata Campus of Kyushu Institute of Technology.

On the day, after an overview of the university was given by the Office of International Strategic Partnerships, Professor Kentaro Kitamura, Director of the Laboratory of Lean Satellite Enterprises and In-Orbit Experiments (LaSEINE), and Specially Appointed Associate Professor Tetsuhito Fuse, in charge of international collaboration at the laboratory, gave an explanation about the Kyutech’s research into nanosatellites and English-taught Space Engineering International Course.

In response, the Ambassador expressed interest in the Kingdom of Lesotho’s potential involvement in the development and operation of nanosatellites, and an active exchange of views took place. Following the briefing, the Ambassador toured the laboratory.

After the laboratory tour, the Ambassador paid a courtesy visit to President Yasunori Mitani, and the meeting was also attended by Executive Director Takuo Yasunaga (for Education Linkage and Cooperation Platform and Information System), Professor Kentaro Kitamura, and Specially Appointed Associate Professor Tetsuhito Fuse.

During the meeting, we exchanged views on the possibility of cooperation with the Kingdom of Lesotho and confirmed that we will work together to promote collaboration in the future.
