On December 5,2025, Kyushu Institute of Technology hosted the “International Friendship Party” at the Memorial Hall and the Nakamura Centenary Memorial Hall on the Tobata Campus. This annual event invites individuals who have supported international students in their academic, research, and daily life, aiming to foster mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
This year, for the first time, the event was organized in two parts: Part One featured speeches and performances by international students, while Part Two was a networking reception held in a separate venue. Despite the chilly weather, approximately 160 participants—including international students from the Tobata, Iizuka, and Wakamatsu campuses, as well as invited guests from outside the university—gathered, filling the venue with warmth and enthusiasm.
Following the opening remarks by Dr. Mitani, President of Kyutech, a representative of KITFSA (Kyushu Institute of Technology Foreign Students Association) from Wakamatsu Campus delivered a heartfelt speech expressing gratitude and sharing experiences as a Kyutech international student.
The performances by international students were the highlight of the evening. First, a Vietnamese student from the Tobata Campus captivated the audience with a mash-up song and guitar performance. Next, a student from the Iizuka Campus introduced his home country, Panama, sparking great interest among attendees with stories of its culture and history. Finally, Indian students from the Wakamatsu Campus energized the crowd with an impressive combination of rap, beatboxing, and guitar.
During the networking reception, participants enjoyed halal-friendly dishes alongside Japanese favorites such as chirashi sushi and seared bonito, all while engaging in lively conversations. The event showcased the unique multicultural environment of Kyutech, where students from around the world come together.
A photo booth, proposed by the representatives of KITFSA, was set up at the reception venue, and students eagerly took turns capturing memories. Many also seized the rare opportunity to converse and take photos with the university president. As the evening concluded, students departed with smiles, repeatedly saying how much they enjoyed the event.
