Kyutech and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) co-organized the 13th International Symposium on Applied Sciences and Engineering (SAES2025) from November 10 to 11, 2025, hosted by UPM.
This year’s SAES was held in person at UPM, with 95 researchers and students from Kyutech traveling to Malaysia.
A total of 350 researchers and students not only from Japan and Malaysia, but also from many other countries joined SAES and presented their research across eight domains, including Engineering and Technology, Food Security, and Healthcare and Wellness.
SAES2025 also welcomed Minister Daisuke Nihei and Counsellor Tatsuya Kitaoka from the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia to the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, an MoU was signed between Kyutech ARISE, Kyutech's first subsidiary, and UPM Holdings, UPM’s investment company, regarding the utilization of a platform for supporting lifelong learning.
In addition, an LoI was signed between Kyutech and UPM regarding the utilization of IQUESTECH, an AI matching system developed by Kyutech for the purpose of matching researchers, with the aim of further invigorating joint research with UPM.
In a special session, which was also attended by students from Kyutech's Green Innovation Leadership Development Course, who participated in a mobility program with UPM Business School prior to SAES, students gave presentations on their business plans for implementing the research they learned in the training in society, as well as on the differences in culture and customs they felt while visiting foreign countries.
Furthermore, SAES served as a platform for deepening future collaboration between Kyutech and UPM through the Midterm Report Meeting of the Co-Funding Joint Research Program and the Steering Committee Meeting to discuss the matter between the presidents of UPM and Kyutech.
We are looking forward to hosting SAES2026 next year.
