“Deltan,” a character designed by a Kyutech professor, has been selected as the official mascot for the ICM2030 Tokyo bid

Update:2025.08.25

Professor Aoi Honda of the Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Department of Artificial Intelligence at Kyutech, has designed a character named “Deltan,” which has been selected as the official mascot of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2030 Tokyo Bid Committee, organized by the Mathematical Society of Japan.

The ICM is the largest and most prestigious international conference in the field of mathematics, held once every four years. It is also widely known as the venue for major award ceremonies, including the Fields Medal and the Gauss Prize.

“Deltan,” designed by Professor Honda, was created to broadly communicate the joy and diversity of mathematics to society. Its approachable design aims to inspire greater interest in mathematics among people of all ages.

Going forward, “Deltan” will be used in various promotional, educational, and outreach activities in preparation for the ICM2030 Tokyo event, scheduled for summer 2030. Even after Tokyo is officially selected as the host city, “Deltan” will continue to serve as the official mascot of ICM2030.
At Kyutech, we remain committed not only to academic research but also to actively promoting the appeal of science and mathematics to society at large.
