Restrictions on gathering, domestic travel, and extracurricular activity

The outbreak of COVID-19 is spreading all over the world as WHO described it pandemic. Kyutech has been taking various precautionary measures against the COVID-19 expansion, but the situation is unforeseeable because we are now seeing gradual expansion here in Fukuoka prefecture.
In response to the situation, Kyutech restricts all the students for the following activities and strongly requests to follow the policy.
Kyutech will continue to send out accurate information by e-mail or on the University website, based on the changing situation.
Your cautiousness and awareness count to deter the expansion, and your cooperation and understanding will be highly appreciated.

1. Request to refrain from gathering and party
In order to prevent mass infection at freshman welcome parties and social gatherings in this season, students are strongly requested to refrain from such gatherings and parties until 30 April.
As you may know from the news report on a university in Kansai area, its students who returned from overseas travel joined farewell parties and gatherings and it formed infection clusters and caused mass infection among number of students and graduates.
To deter such situation, refrain from; 1) planning, 2) inviting, and 3) joining parties and gatherings.

2. Request to avoid domestic travel
The Novel Coronavirus Expert Meeting for Japanese government classified all the prefectures in Japan into 3 categories based on the level of expansion of COVID-19; 1) Expansion alert area, 2) Infection confirmed area, and 3) Infection unconfirmed area.
All Kyutech students are strongly requested to avoid nonessential travel to the 1) Expansion alert area, except that the travel is essential such as job search and returning to hometown.
1) Expansion alert area:
The area where the infection cases newly confirmed or without identified infection route have largely increased within the last week compared to the previous 1 week. Tokyo and Osaka were designated as the area. (As of 1 April)
2) Infection confirmed area:
The area where the increase of the infection cases newly confirmed or without identified infection route is plateaued at some level
3) Infection unconfirmed area:
The area where no infection case has been newly confirmed within the last week.

3. Request to refrain from extracurricular activity
Extracurricular activities on campus (trainings and meetings), which were not restricted so far, are now also subject to the restriction in accordance with the postponed start date of the spring semester.
Until the spring semester starts, students are strongly requested to refrain; training camps, away games/matches (including on-campus games/matches with invited opponents from outside the University), concerts, live shows, events, and extracurricular activities.
If it is difficult or inappropriate to refrain from these activities, consult the University for a consideration.
