Since the establishment of the Center for Cooperative Research as a bridge between industry and Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) in May 1989, Kyutech has established various organizations such as Liaison Office on Iizuka campus in February 2000, Incubation Center in March 2004, and Intellectual Patent Office in October 2003,
to support industry-academia collaboration.

In the meantime, a former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr.Hiranuma, chanted a plan of "1000 university ventures", and Kyutech has always maintained a top 10 ranking within this. Furthermore, Kyutech has always ranked in the top 20 for the number of patent applications and license income. With these accomplishments, Kyutech has been highly evaluated externally.

Under such circumstances, to respond to social needs and to strengthen the function of the university, the Center for Cooperative Research and Intellectual Patent Office, which had been working separately, were merged into the Collaboration Center in October 2006. This will help to promote closer contact and better response times.

In addition, a backup association for technical exchange of Kyushu Institute of Technology, Kyutech Collabo, envisaged as a promotional society for Kyutech, was established by local volunteers in March 2007. It then became possible for Kyutech to secure a base to promote collaboration and contribution to society.

With this organizational change and the establishment of Kyutech Collabo, we will increasingly try to promote collaboration. We strongly encourage people of related industrial, administrative and financial areas to continue their support and utilization of the Collaboration Center, and promote new collaborations with Kyutech.
