Chronology
1907  Meiji College of Technology was founded as a private institution.
1909  Meiji College of Technology was opened, and the first students were admitted. It had three departments: Department of Mining, Department of Metallurgy, and Department of Mechanical Engineering.
1921  Meiji College of Technology was changed to a national institution.
1949  Under the national school establishment law, Meiji College of Technology was changed to Kyushu Institute of Technology.
1965  Graduate School (masters program) of Engineering was established.
1986  Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering was established.
1987  The first students of Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering were admitted.
1988  Doctoral program was started in Graduate School of Engineering.
1991  Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering (masters program) was established.
1993  Doctoral program was started in Graduate School of Computer Science and Systems Engineering.
2000  Graduate School of Life Science and Systems Engineering (Independent postgraduate school) was established.
